Lesbos

Lesbos (Lesvos) Greece is the largest island of the North-Eastern Aegean. It is a very beautiful island with wonderful beaches, picturesque villages, friendly inhabitants, thermal springs and interesting architecture. Despite tourism, the inhabitants of the island of Lesbos have kept their tradition and customs. Lesbos is famous for its excellent ouzo and for being the birthplace of the female poet Sappho.





Lesbos Villages
Numerous villages of the island of Lesvos are still very authentic and their inhabitants are trying to keep their customs, traditions and habits despite of the important tourism of the island. Fine examples of traditional architecture, Venetian and Byzantine architecture can be admired in the majority of the villages of Lesvos. The capital of the island, Mytilene (Mitilini), is also very attractive and has everything to please the visitors.

Lesbos Beaches
The coastline of Lesbos Island in Greece is full of bays nestling long sandy or pebbled beaches, and small coves forming calm and picturesque swimming places. The water in Lesbos is clean and crystalline. Sun beds, umbrellas and sea sports facilities are available in many of those beaches, particularly in the touristy beach resorts. Deserted beaches can also be found.

Lesbos Nightlife
The island of Lesbos is the largest island of the North-Eastern Aegean Greece. For that reason, is has many places of entertainment and a very lively nightlife. A plethora of bars and clubs are filling the streets of the capital, the town of Mytilene, the village of Plomari and the waterfront of the busy touristy resorts of the island.
